A New Volume
The editors are happy to announce, with the fulfillment of HFR‘s second volume, that HFR will be moving to a quarterly schedule of publishing* and will debut four issues each year. Due to this, submissions for issue 2.2 will close effective MAY 13, 2013; works submitted on and after this date will be considered for issue 3.1. We will continue to read submissions year-round.
The deadline for HFR 3.1 issue consideration is SEPTEMBER 15, 2013.
*The price of digital subscriptions will double to reflect the move. Current subscribers will be grandfathered-in and receive the extra issues at no additional cost.
The New Issue
HFR 2.2 (print)* is now available to preorder ($10) until July 1, 2013, when it will go on sale for $12. All preorders will receive the digital edition at no additional cost, and in the three formats that we make available: epub, mobi, and pdf.
*HFR 2.2 contributors include: Hugh Behm-Steinberg, Randall Brown, Dan Chelotti, Carol Guess, Trent England, Laura Ellen Scott, Anne Valente, and more.
Featured Chapbook Contest Each Quarter
Post-2.2, each issue of HFR will feature a chapbook. The method for determining this feature will be by contest.* The contest will alternate between fiction and poetry each issue.
Amber Sparks, author of May We Shed These Human Bodies (Curbside Splendor Publishing, 2012), and the collaborative-hybrid text The Desert Places (with Robert Kloss and Matt Kish; Curbside Splendor Publishing, forthcoming), will serve as final judge for the first contest, a FICTION feature.
*Non-refundable entry fees are set at $10, with the winner receiving a $250 prize. Read more and submit to the contest here. All entrants receive 1-year digital subscriptions to HFR.
